We're excited to propose a 2025 spring day trip that combines Old World charm with Texas heritage! π The planned journey will take us on a commercial mini bus to:
βͺ The Painted Churches of Schlulenburg Tour- Often called "Texas' European treasures," these historic churches showcase the stunning craftsmanship of 19th-century Czech and German immigrants. For those who have admired European cathedral architecture firsthand, these hidden gems offer a fascinating glimpse of how Old World artistry took root in Texas soil.
πΊ The Spoetzl Brewery - Home of the iconic Shiner Beer, this historic brewery has been crafting authentic German-style beverages since 1909. The tour offers insight into both traditional brewing methods and modern production techniques.
As an added bonus, our April/May timing may treat us to views of Texas bluebonnets along our route πΈ, adding natural beauty to our cultural exploration. The full-day itinerary includes comfortable transportation from San Antonio, a guided tour of four Painted Churches ($18 per person), a brewery tour ($30), and lunch at Tillie's Cafe.
Based on 15 registrants, we estimate the cost per person will be under $200. The largest expense is the charter transportation, which is necessary to mitigate the club's risk exposure for the day trip.
