President's Message
Amigos/as,
Dolly and I just returned from our club trip to Peru — a small group adventure that took 17 Amigos/as to South America, some for the first time. We discovered the Machu Picchu & Sacred Valley itinerary through Overseas Adventure Travel’s presentation at last year’s Bidfest, and it checked every box for an unforgettable international immersion experience.
Turns out we were spot on — the 16 slots filled in under 15 minutes! Even the waitlist stayed hopeful. It’s a great reminder of how your input helps guide which trips we prioritize when casting Los Amigos’ 8 votes at Bidfest. But here’s the catch: Bidfest operates more like a political caucus. Each of the 13 Texas Ski Council clubs casts their votes, and only the trips with the highest overall support make the final cut. So even if a trip is our club’s top choice, it may not be selected if it doesn’t earn enough total votes. That’s why your early interest and survey feedback matter so much — they help us advocate more effectively.
Still Time to Take the Survey!
So far, 53 members have completed the survey. If you haven’t yet, please take just a few minutes — deadline is July 31 — to let us know which destinations interest you most.
👉 What destinations interest you for 2026 & 2027?
Your responses help us focus our attention at Bidfest and ask the right questions.
Bidding Starts Friday, August 1!
This year’s TSC Silent Auction is going digital — and it opens tomorrow August 1st!
You can preview items and bid from anywhere, even if you’re not attending Bidfest.
Ski lovers, take note:
Bid on lodging + lift ticket packages for incredible resorts like Whitefish, Montana and Banff National Park — Banff is the TSC Shootout destination for February 2026.
Looking for something wilder?
A $500 Safari Travel Credit is also up for grabs — and yes, this is one of the proposed destinations for next summer/fall. A win-win!
Plus: wine baskets, James Avery jewelry, Dallas Stars tickets, 5-day EPIC pass and more.
Bidding closes Saturday, Aug. 2 at 9:00 p.m.
If you’re the top bidder, we’ll notify you and arrange pickup or delivery — a nice perk of being the host club!
What’s the Difference Between a Happy Hour and a Membership Meeting?
With so many new members, it’s a good time to clear up the difference:
-
First Tuesday = Happy Hour
Casual, come-and-go social time. Great for chatting with trip leaders and catching up — no agenda.
-
Third Tuesday = Membership Meeting
Starts with socializing, but at 6:00 p.m., we shift to club business:
• Trip updates
• High-level club financials
• Quick polls or votes (bylaws, board slates, etc.)
Both events are fun and friendly — just with different formats.
On behalf of the board, we truly appreciate your continued support. We look forward to seeing you next month — whether it’s at a Happy Hour, Membership Meeting, or small group gatherings--brunch and/or dinner.
Sun, Snow, and Good Times,
Brian Goebel
President 2025-2026
