Amigos,

If you were at Tuesday's membership meeting, you know we had a fantastic turnout—almost 40 members! I’ll admit, heading into a late-fall meeting, I was half expecting to need binoculars to spot attendees. Instead, we had one of our best crowds of the season. Maybe the agenda we shared ahead of time helped spark interest—or maybe it was just the good company. Either way, the energy in the room made for one of our most productive discussions of the year.

Your input couldn’t have come at a better time. Next month, the Texas Ski Council will ask each club to submit their top three choices for 2028 ski destinations and 2027 summer and fall expeditions. Thanks to your engagement—especially the additions you made to the Bucket List and adventure destinations slide—our board now has a clear, member-driven direction heading into that meeting.

A few key takeaways from the discussion:

• Trip duration sweet spot:
We heard loud and clear that 14 days is the max most members want for international trips—with flexibility for those who want a pre- or post-extension. This helps us set realistic expectations when talking with tour operators.

• More details = more registrations:
The survey reinforced what many said aloud: details matter. Members want solid information early so they can decide whether to commit. We will work to tighten our pre-release trip packets so you get what you need when you need it.

• Adventure interests are shaping trip planning:
The enthusiasm for diving, snorkeling, hiking, and cycling wasn’t just talk—it's influencing both TSC proposals and ideas for future club-led trips. Your comments last night helped refine which destinations best match those interests.

• Registration urgency for TSC expeditions:
We also shared a practical (if less exciting) update:
To meet vendor financial commitments, the board set a threshold of 8 registrations by Dec. 10 for both the Islands of New England trip and Tanzania. Without that, we will need to reduce or withdraw our club’s participation. Several members said they were “meaning to sign up”—so if that’s you, the next 20 days really matter.

We packed a lot into one evening, and I want to thank each of you who came, asked questions, added destinations, or simply listened and learned. Your participation strengthens our club and directly shapes where we go together.

Wishing each of you a wonderful Thanksgiving, filled with good food, good friends, and maybe even a little outdoor adventure to help burn off the pies.

I’m grateful for all of you—your energy, your ideas, and the way you show up (even in November!). Thanks for making this club something special.
