How can I learn about the trips?

The best way to learn about the trips is to come chat with board members at our monthly Happy Hours and Membership Meetings (dates posted on the What's Happening aka Events Calendar). The Membership Meetings are for members only, so you will need to be a current member to attend.
If are unable to attend Happy Hours, you can send an email directly to the VP for Trips. Emails for board members can be found on the Home page or contact the Trip Leader noted for the specific trip you would like more information.

When and where are Happy Hours?

Happy Hours are held the first Tuesday of the month, year round, from 5-7 PM. Vist the What's Happening aka Event Calendar on the website for locations.

When and where are your Membership Meetings?

Meetings are held the third Tuesday of the month, from August through March(excludes Dec and Jan). Membership Meetings focus on the trips scheduled for the year and those in the preliminary planning phase, discussion of social events and interest groups activities. Board elections are held in March. NOTE: Membership Meetings are restricted to members with a current membership. A member is allowed to bring a guest with a genuine interest in learning more about the club's programs before joining.

What social events do you host?

We host an End of the (Fiscal) Year Party (May-June) and Holiday Party (Dec).  Visit What's Happening aka Event Calendar for information on upcoming events.

How are your trips selected?

Los Amigos Ski Travel and Social Club is an affiliate of the Texas Ski Council. Each year, delegates are appointed to participate with the other Texas  ski clubs (14) to meet with ski resorts from around the world at Ski BidFest.  Delegates from each club vote to select two ski trips and two land expeditions for a total of 4 TSC sponsored trips annually.

In addition to the TSC trips, Los Amigos plans and organizes smaller club
trips (including multi-adventures) to meet the diverse interests of our members.  A volunteer (member of Los Amigos SkiTravel and Social Club) will lead the trip.

What's a Typical Los Amigos Ski Trip Like?

Buckle up, Amigos! Our travel together is an adventure filled with thrills and memories that'll last a lifetime.

Here's what you can expect for ski trips:

Pre-Trip Preparations ✨

  • Sign up for trips are announced through email communication to members, the website Trips menu tab, and at the membership meetings. A deposit is required to hold your space.
  • Your trip leader will keep you informed of payment due dates, ticket and rental information, activities, and any extension excursions(pre/post trip) offered by the tour operator.
  • Your trip leader will plan a pre-trip gathering allowing everyone to get acquainted and final logistics covered.

       Resort Revelry

  • Texas Ski Council  (TSC) trips kick things off with a Welcome Party (usually held Sunday late afternoon).
  • Your trip leader will distribute ski tickets, resort information, and on TSC designated trips, badges (credentials) to be worn at the Welcome Party and Dinner & Awards party (typically Thursday evening).
  • Sort out your rentals and ski school lessons (if needed).
  • Get ready to hit those slopes and shopping, spa time, and sightseeing when taking time off the mountain.

     Mountain Time

  • Group text to keep you connected.
  • Lunch break? Rendezvous mid-mountain for refueling with Amigos.
  • Après-ski with your Amigos or go solo – it's your choice!
  • Dinner plans? Most Amigos dine together at a local restaurant or prepare a meal to enjoy in their condo unit.
  • Feeling competitive? There is an optional NASTAR race on TSC trips. A small fee per participant is collected by the Trip Leader at the Pre-Trip gathering or Welcome Party.

How much do trips cost?

Costs vary, depending upon resort location. You can expect 2025-2026 U.S./Canada destinations to range between $1270 to $1820 per person double occupancy for 7 nights of lodging, roundtrip ground transportation (shuttle) from the airport to the resort, and 2-3 functions hosted by TSC and/or the Los Amigos Ski Club. Ski trips typically offer group discounted lift tickets, ground transportation, and two or three parties.  Again, this range is a ballpark price, with multiple variables determining the cost per person.

Airfare is not included in the base price, but a group airfare rate is often available. You can book your own air travel with your favorite airline provider.

Single supplement is offered on trips. What this means is that if you elect not to have a room mate to share the double occupany room, you absorb the full cost.

How long do trips last?

Most trips are 7 days (Saturday arrival-Saturday departure). Some club trips are less than 7 days. For example, your choose the duration of your stay on the Alta December holiday trip.

What type of lodging is included in the package?

It depends. For ski trips, typical accomodations are condos and hotels with ski-in/ski-out or on shuttle routes. Other trips (i.e. cruises, diving, cycling) the lodging is subject to the selection made by the tour operator.

What if I do not have a room mate to share the double occupancy room?
We understand that members may sign up for trips without a partner. Every effort is made by the Trip Leader to assign single travelers with another member traveling solo. However, if there is no one available to pair up with, you will be notified by the Trip Leader in ample time for you to decide if you want to still go on the trip and pay the single supplement fee.

How many people go on a trip?

The group size for each trip varies. Some trips are specifically designed as small group adventures (10-19 participants) while others can be larger with 20-50 participants. On TSC affiliated U.S. ski trips, you can expect a larger group size (100-150) at the hosted functions (Welcome Party and mid-week Dinner & Awards party).

How do I pay?

Two options are available for trip payments:
1) By credit card logging into your Member account on the club's website.
2) A check mailed to the Club's post office box or hand delivered at a monthly function to the trip leader.

Regardless of what option you choose, payment can be made in full or in installments. The trip balance will need to be paid at least 45 days before departure.

What discounts do you offer?

One key advantage of your membership, are the group discounts made available by the tour operators on lift tickets, rentals, ski lessons, and lodging.

Do you offer trip insurance?

Although we do not bake into the cost of the trip package travel insurance, we HIGHLY recommend the purchase of trip insurance. There are a number of companies who offer travel protection; often your home insurance company will do so.  Since our tour operators require advance booking, it’s wise to safeguard your travel expenses in the event you need to cancel your trip.

For travel insurance information, read the blog Let's Unpack Travel Insurance published July 2025 based on the webinar hosted by the National Ski Council Federation.

Do I need to be a skier to join?

Not al all. Every trip we have members sign up who do not ski (or have retired from skiing/snowboarding), but still want to enjoy the winter wonderland experience and group activities off the slopes.

What are the ski levels of the members?

The ski levels are as varied as the demographics of our members. You will find a buddy to ski with covering the spectrum from double black to cruising green and blue runs.

How can I get involved?

Our club is 100% governed and managed by volunteers. If you would like to volunteer your time and talent, please visit the website-Volunteering for a list of opportunities available OR contact any board member listed under About Us tab (accessed on the Home navigation bar).  We believe you will find your service to the club to be a rewarding experience.
