just short but very convenient bus transfer to the ski mountain of the Sun Valley Ski Resort. "Baldy"
is the primary ski mountain of the ski resort, renowned for its lengthy runs of constant gradient, at
varying levels of difficulty, with a general absence of wind.
In the Sun Valley Resorts fourth year of operation (1939-1940), Bald Mountain was opened
for lift-served skiing with three sing chairlifts in a series, uploading at an elevation of 9,020 feet
just below the mountain summit. With a base elevation of 5,750 feet along the Big Wood River at
River Run, Baldy's vertical drop is 3,400 feet along its northeast face. It served by 17 ski lifts
(1 Eight person Gondola, 10 high-speed quads, 3 triples, 1 doubles, 2 surface).
For non-skiers, the hotel has a spa, shopping, pool and hot tub along with many other
amenities. Also available are dog sledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, Nordic skiing
and sleigh rides.

The resort has 75 runs with 2,054 acres of on-piste skiing, 645 acres of which have
snowmaking with necessary. Sun Valley offers access to 120 run and tree skiing.
All these are serviced by 17 lifts total. With a terrain rating of 36% beginner,
42% intermediate, 20% advanced and 2% expert. Sun Valley can accommodate skiers and
riders of all levels and abilities.
These ratings are relative, not absolute; much of the "easiest" terrain on
Bald Mountain would be rated as "intermediate" at most other ski resorts, as the beginner areas
are on the smaller and gentler Dollar Mountain area of the slopes. In general, there is something
for everyone whether you ski or board.
